About the Hubbard in Prevention coalition
Over a Decade of Impact
A Future where children prosper and grow into healthy adults
Established in 2011, the Hubbard in Prevention (HIP) Coalition was founded following the successful acquisition of the Project and Implementation grant in collaboration with CHI St. Joseph’s Health. Originally a five-year initiative that concluded in June 2016, the coalition has since been awarded the Drug-Free Communities grant for five additional years, with renewed funding in 2021. Our mission is to prevent alcohol, marijuana, tobacco, and vaping use among youth in Hubbard County, focusing on students from Park Rapids, Nevis, and Laporte school districts.
HIP is committed to fostering a healthier community through a collaborative approach that includes diverse stakeholders such as local schools, healthcare organizations, law enforcement, and community members. We emphasize prevention through education and outreach, providing resources and training to both youth and adults. Our initiatives include mental wellness programs, community summits on Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs), and Positive Community Norms campaigns that reshape perceptions around substance use. By encouraging open dialogue and offering support resources, we strive to create a safer environment where youth can thrive and make informed choices. Together, we are building resilience and promoting lasting change within our community.
